Crowded Kitchen’s ‘Topsy Turvy’ lives up to its title
June 2019
"Trish Cipoletti as Antoinette carries the show and keeps the energy in high gear. In addition to being an accomplished actress, her stamina is remarkable. She survives the exhausting opening chase-me-round-the-desk scene, the audacious auditions and the wrap of her chaotic film."

Crowded Kitchen's 'Unspeakable' thought-provoking fare
March 2019
"The play presents a scenario where things are not as they seem and the audience as well as the characters often jump to the wrong conclusions. Barlieb who says he wanted to write a play that exposes myths and misconceptions about child sexual abuse took a procedural approach to the story of a young boy who suddenly stops speaking."
Kathy Lauer-Williams, The Morning Call, Allentown, PA
Crowded Kitchen Players’ ‘Unspeakable’ speaks volumes
March 2019
"In its latest thought-provoking play, written and directed by Ara Barlieb, the Crowded Kitchen Players tackle the uncomfortable topic of child abuse and how society has either failed to address it or has too often been looking the wrong way. The play is “Unspeakable,” but it has a very loud and clear message."

'A Softening of Her Eyes' a courtroom thriller that is unforgettable and moving
June 2018
"Emmanuel Thorogood Morris (William Alexander Jr.) escapes from the courthouse and manages to get on a talk show to plead his innocence against charges for rape and assault. Crowded Kitchen's 'Act One' is a fun and serious look at life of playwright Moss Hart
October 2017
This play, which premiered on Broadway in 2014, is a classic rags-to-riches saga and a backstage look at the theater. These are familiar themes, but in this case they are based on a true story, with a healthy dose of humor and just the right amount of sentimentality.

'Twelveness' by Crowded Kitchen Players is absorbing
June 2017
The play is unusual in that it is staged on both the first and second floors of the Ice House. The first act is on the ground floor, which represents the tennis court of Gershwin’s brother Ira. For scenes 2 and 3, the audience moves to the smaller balcony area that represents the formal dining room of the Schoenbergs.

Crowded Kitchen's 'A Fall of Heaven' is a fascinating look at free will
December 2015
The basic story is that Tempest Landry, played with a resolute and somewhat hot-tempered conviction by William Alexander Jr,. is a young black man living in Harlem, who is "accidentally" shot 17 times by police. He finds himself having judgment made on him by a slightly befuddled St. Peter (David "Oz" Oswald) in a scene in which masked people line up like sheep to receive their judgment and are taken away to heaven or hell. The strong-willing Tempest throws everything askew when he refuses to accept his judgment and insists he does not deserve to go hell.
